CCSF Judo Tourney 2011

Yesterday was a pretty good day. Running off 2 maybe three hours sleep I ran around doing laundry and trying to fix myself something light to eat before the Judo Invitational hosted by my School City College of San Francisco. Once there in the gym I woke up off excitement. Not really to play but watching other people enjoy the sport and especially the little kids. Their techniques were probably better than the teens and adults. As I glanced around waiting for my name to be called I saw people from all the DOPE schools like Stanford and San Jose St. (Reputable Judo squads). There was a school from France that caught my attention more like my ear because everytime something cool happened one of the teachers would yell"OOH LA LA" I thought that crap was hilarious, I started saying it too.
Once my pool got called I calmly walked to the mat, for some reason there was no nervousness, but I was Indeed ready to play. The thing about Judo is Balance/ Kazushi and I try to exemplify that even more so keeping my opponent from using his/her signature or goto moves! Plus im a LEFTY!!!
I ended up 4 and 0, and had a coach from another school tell his assisstant to "GET HIS GOT DAMN NUMBER!"
I felt like it was a great way to end my 2011 competitions!!! Ive done quite a few since the summer. None have been about medals or trophies, just personal tests to try myself. I look foward to many more!
P.S. This win was for my Engineer Posse who exposed me to Judo Andy S. and Jose S. My Jiu Jitsu slash old workout buddies Chris Mac and Thomas! The CollegeLivin Squad!! Kenny T and the Max Muscle Fam!City College Judo Squad!!! Pops and M.F.n Bruce Lee!! CAN YOU DIG IT!!!! Pics and Video soon

Ken Tali is Northern California's premier contest prep coach. Aim For Elite Strength

Well, this year is coming to a close which is when a lot of people start coming up with goals and resolutions for the new year. Any time is a good time for goals to chase but we know people are programmed to have these  new years resolutions. What better time to show you a few strength charts I've been using to guesstimate my clients and I's strength. The charts are based off a persons weight and 1 rep max strength. Also the strength is broken down into 5 categories. Untrained, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite. This isn't meant to discourage you if you fall short of where you think you should be, its a template to push towards new goals. Also the templates are in pounds. Ive taken the BIG 3 strength exercises, Bench Press, Squats, and Dead-lifts for men and women. These templates should give you a goal or two OR three to chase. So go tell a workout partner, personal trainer, B.F.F. that you are getting ELITE strength! Dead Lifts for Men Dead L
