You Probably never heard of the guy, but to the fitness and health nuts he may have come up in fitness lore. Reputed to have climbed up ropes with one hand, done the Iron cross with just one finger in each loop, record holding 1 arm chin ups, the 1 arm front lever and countless other "Moves" or exercises that entitle you to a certain respect in the fitness game. He was one of the ORIGINAL to do the "Bartendaz" style you can say or outside gymnasium guys you see on you tube today. Being a guy who loves these moves I cant help but represent and honor this Legend of amazing feats!!! All the moves that create awes in the gym or playground this guy mastered! The muscle up, levers, cranks, inverted levers, one armed pull/chin ups, planches!!! SALUTE and Rest in Gym Paradise. March 25,1921 to January 6, 2012 J.P.

Im A TOUGH MUDDER

Yesterday i participated in the Tough Mudder Nor-Cal with six other Crazy Mo-Fo's and we all beasted it out. I did not expext it to be sooo UPHILL. We literally ran up a mountain in Tahoe to where there was ICE. From the get we had to sprint up a hill listening to EYE Of The Tiger music then once we hit the first bend into a pool of beautiful mud and barbed wires to crawl under! Game On!!! Add on 10 miles and 19 more obstacles and thats what we went through. The craziest were the ice bath pool which froze EVERYTHING and the lake swim where we had to jump off a 25-30ft. cliff with all our clothes/ shoes on after we were already beat! I nearly gave up on it but im too stubborn to drown! Lastly there was the electric wires dangling on the last obstacle, some wires charged up to 10,000 volts!! I heard some hissing and cracking. I made it out alive but one of the team mates got smacked down! Overall the team of 7 made it out alive and was humbled by the event. Bloody, scratched up,...

Workout music of the week

So yes, I got to have my tunes when I'm working out and Kelly Rowlands new song Motivation has a dope mellow beat that sets the mood for getting in that workout!!!

Why Train

You ever question yourselves why even train?? Why do we do what we do? I believe we were made to move. If we become stagnant and lazy we feel bad sooner or later. We weren't programmed to be lazy. We are moving machines who can only get bigger, stronger, faster! Training / working out gives me one of the best highs I can get.I know it can be hard with tedious work hours and commuting and KIDS but there's always a way to get in a sweat! Keep positive people in your circle and have them hold you accountable or just workout together!! Get it IN!!!! You'll thank yourself later.   "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a CHAMPION.' " ~Muhammad Ali~

John Wooden's LEGACY

Coach Wooden recently past away living to be 100 years young. He was and is a big-time role model and example of a great if not the greatest coach. Myself having a past coached boys and girl basketball teams look up to guys like this. He was the first person to be awarded in the hall of fame as a player AND as a coach. Thats Huge! He was a killer in college as a player and was a killer as a coach for UCLA where his Bruins won 10 championships!!! His bruins also had a perfect 30-0 season four times. These accomplishments have NOT been done by any other coach. Why so great, well he was a man of Morals and Character. I pay homage to Coach John Wooden by sharing his Seven Point Creed that his father gave him after he graduated from just grammer school. 1. Be true to yourself 2.Make each day your masterpiece 3.Help others 4.Drink deeply from good books 5.Make friendship a fine art 6.Build a shelter against a rainy day 7.Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every da...

Muscle Up tips and Exercises

I'll never forget when I first stumbled upon Muscle ups in 2007 while going for a jog in the Marina in San Francisco. Some guy pulling up then dipping from the top of childrens monkey bars. I stopped from curiosity and asked the dude what he was doing and from then on I did research, you tubed and experimented with reckless abandon... haha. I practiced non stop (even injuring myself real bad in the elbow) and tinkered with exercises that would compliment my progress in this cool move. It wasnt long after that I could do them on command but it definitely took a lot of go's! Perseverance friends. Dont Quit. So here goes. 1. Weighted Pull ups and Dips- First off the muscle up IS essentially both or a combo of, so you have to be comfortable in doing the two said exercises already. Weighted pull-ups and dips will strengthen and help you with the explosion (speed + strength) that you need to get over the bar. 2. Reverse Grip curls- I LOVE these and definitely co-sign on how much th...
